Kälviä Music Camp has been enriching the education system for young musicians in Finland for over five decades. Particularly in this challenging time a communal and activating camp period is extremely important, and for this reason we do our very best to offer contact teaching in Kälviä. I have been delighted to see how motivated all the teachers have remained and that all those high quality music pedagogues are willing to adapt to the new conditions. Our optimistic hope is to arrange the music camp in two parts:
Brass & Woodwind & Percussion & Harp Camp 7.-12.6.2021
String Camp 14.-19.6.2021
Music Camp has traditionally attracted around 200 devoted musicians, but now it is naturally not possible to arrange such a big event with all the extra arrangements due to the epidemic restrictions. To share the traditional camp into two smaller camps, we can easier make the camp as safe as possible for all the participants. Now we are planning to have two camps with around 50 participants each.
Orchestras has always been an important part of the music camp. We don’t know yet if we will be able to organize orchestra activities this summer, at least it will be in a very small scale. Nevertheless, we will enjoy the private lessons, chamber music and different lectures.
We commit to follow the authoritative regulations in all arrangements. At the moment, those regulations are not known for the summer period, but right now the epidemic situation seems to become better and better. It is a very good and strong sign that the music camp activities are possible to arrange in Kälviä, with all the teachers and students present and together.
New dead line for applications is 9.5.! We have updated new information on theses two smaller camps in the homepages. Programme for the camp week will be updated later in April.
Let’s take care of each other and keep the music on!
